Flyers Vs. Rangers: Rangers Take 2-0 Lead After Second Period

The Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers went scoreless through the first period Friday night in their preview of the 2012 Winter Classic. The Flyers lead the Eastern Conference with 46 points and a 21-8-4 record but the Rangers are right behind them with 44 points and a 20-8-4 record.

The first goal of the game was scored at the 10:18 minute mark by Rangers center Derek Stepan with the assist from Stu Bickel. The second goal was scored at 15:29 by left wing Ruslan Fedotenko with assists by Stu Bickel and Brandon Dubinsky. The second goal was originally called a no goal because it crossed the red line and bounced out so quickly but after review, it counted. The Rangers lead the Flyers in takeaways and faceoffs won but the Flyers are currently leading in shots on goal.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is looking for his third shutout of the season as the two teams enter into the third period of play.
