NHL Winter Classic 2012: Could Bobrovsky Start In Net?

The last Flyers win came with Sergei Bobrovsky in net. That was the 4-1 victory over Dallas. Bobrovsky will be back in net tonight against the Pens. The question is, what happens if he's good tonight? What would it mean for the Winter Classic?

Tonight's game marks the Flyers final tune up before the 2012 Winter Classic on January 2nd. It's a huge game not only from a rivalry sense but in the standings as well and after surrendering 9 goals in his last two games, Ilya Bryzgalov is getting the night off. Could it be a sign that Bob might end up starting the Winter Classic if he plays well? Peter Laviolette wouldn't say that, but he also didn't commit to Bryz as his netminder for the game.

"I’m only going to comment on one game here, don’t read anything into it," Laviolette said.

He would say only that winning is what he's focused on.

"I don’t think you need to put who’s in goal in there," Laviolette said. "The only thing that really matters is getting two points. That’s spread throughout the team here. We need to play really well ... We have a chance to end this year on a positive note."

So if he's focused on winning and Bob plays lights out tonight against the Pens, why wouldn't Lavy start him against the Rangers in the Winter Classic?
