Penn State Hockey To Play Post-Winter Classic Game

Two days after the fifth annual Winter Classic between the New York Rangers and and Philadelphia Flyers on January 2 at Citizens Bank Park – home of the Philadelphia Phillies – Penn State's Men's Hockey team will face NCAA DIII Neumann University in another outdoor hockey game at Citizens Bank.

The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4 at 8 p.m. Tickets are general admission only and will cost $10 a person. They can be purchased here by entering the promotion code 'PSU' when prompted.

Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko had this to say about the event:

"As Penn State becomes a Division I Hockey school, what better way to make a statement than to compete on the largest stage in the State of Pennsylvania when they face off against Neumann University at Citizens Bank Park," said Luukko. "There are a tremendous number of Penn State alumni living in the Greater Philadelphia Region who are looking forward to this game. We are thrilled to host this game as part of a week-long celebration of hockey in Philadelphia. It will be great for the City and great for the school. We're really looking forward to welcoming Penn State Division I hockey to Philadelphia."

In 2013-14 Penn State will join the newly-created Big Ten Hockey conference, in which they will open a new stadium – the Pegula Ice Arena.
