Flyers GM Paul Holmgren confirmed today that the team has claimed defenseman Nick Boynton off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks. The veteran D man has been a healthy scratch 18 of the last 22 games in Chicago. With Oskars Bartulis done for the year and Chris Pronger ailing, the Flyers are likely looking for some experienced cover on the blue line. They've already called up Erik Gustafsson from the Adirondack Phantoms in case Pronger isn't ready to go tonight.
↵Broad Street Hockey hopes Pronger gets the night off and Gustaffson gets a chance to see NHL ice time.
↵↵↵He's never played in an NHL game, and, if the Flyers can justify resting the player who plays more than anybody else on the team while also giving a good look at a player who could be used as a seventh, depth defenseman in the playoffs, why not do that?
