The Flyers and Sabres will face off for game five of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals tonight and the home team may be seeing the return of a key piece at Wells Fargo Center. Yesterday, Tim Pannacio reported that a decision on Chris Pronger would be made at today's morning skate. Pronger was reportedly a full participant in the practice and even stayed on the ice later taking slap shots.
While nothing has been made official, that would seem like a strong indication that Pronger could be back tonight.
Unfortunately as one major piece could be coming back, the Flyers will be without another. Jeff Carter will miss tonight's game with a knee injury he picked up in game four. CSN reports that it's likely Carter will miss the remainder of the series. Darrel Powe seems like the favorite to replace Carter on the line with Claude Giroux and James van Reimsdyk. Jody Shelley could be the guy called up to take Powe's spot on the 4th line to provide some size and toughness.
There's no word on how Pronger would displace in the lineup, although the most likely candidate would seem to be Danny Syvret. However, Geoff Detweiler argues that Sean O'Donnell should be the guy headed to the bench.
Tonight's game starts at 7:30 on CSN.
