The Flyers have announced that they will play their annual preseason game in London, Ontario against the Detroit Red Wings. The game will take place at the John Labbatt Centre on September 22nd.
↵Comcast's Peter Lukko called London their "home away from home."
↵↵↵"London truly is our home away from home,"The fan support here in London for the Flyers is outstanding. The John Labatt Centre is a fantastic hockey arena that our players enjoy visiting. To be playing the Detroit Red Wings here in London is a dream match-up for hockey fans in Southwestern Ontario and Eastern Michigan. This will be the first time in 8 straight years of playing in London that the Flyers will play the Red Wings, who play not terribly far across the US-Canada border. The game will coincide with a "celebration of Detroit" being put on by the Canadian city, which will also include concerts by Bob Seger and Kid Rock.
↵↵↵We are excited to bring the Detroit Red Wings to London and are looking forward to welcoming back the Flyers to the John Labatt Centre," said Brian Ohl, General Manager of the John Labatt Centre. "London has a growing number of Philadelphia Flyer fans and when they face a team with the regional popularity of the Red Wings this fall, people will be in for a great night of hockey."
