Paul Holmgren took over as Flyers GM in 2006/2007 season when Bobby Clarke resigned. The Flyers were the worst team in the NHL that season, but returned to the playoffs the following year under Holmgren's guidance. He had a busy summer in which he made two blockbuster trades involving faces of the franchise, Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, as well as luring Ilya Bryzgalov to Philly in a third blockbuster deal.
