The Philadelphia Flyers will be without defenseman Andrej Meszaros for 6-8 weeks after he undergoes lower back surgery on Wednesday (via Flyers). The surgery will remove a small disc fragment from Meszaros' back.
Meszaros surgery will be performed by Dr Alex Vaccaro at Thomas Jefferson Hospital. Andrej will be out 6-8 weeks.
Meszaros has not played since a March 1 game against the Islanders in which he had a goal and two assists. The second assist gave Meszaros his 200th point of his career.
Going the time frame given by the team, Meszaros could be done for the season. The loss of Meszaros would be another harmful blow to the Flyers' blue line this year. Erik Gustafsson and Brandon Manning will have to play more often for the rest of the season.
In 62 games this season, Meszaros has 7 goals, 18 assists and 38 penalty minutes.
