After three games, the Philadelphia Flyers held a 3-0 lead on their in-state rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, in round one of the 2012 NHL Playoffs. They went for the sweep on Wednesday, but failed, as they surrendered 10 goals to Jordan Staal and the Penguins.
The Flyers will try once again to slam the door on the Penguins season on Friday, and advance to the second round of the Playoffs. They may be receiving a huge boost, as James van Riemsdyk could return, after missing the previous 23 games. The 22 year old left wing has 11 goals and 13 assists in 43 games this season.
The Penguins and Flyers have combined to score 45 goals in five games this series.
