Flyers Vs. Penguins, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 6: Erik Gustafsson, Danny Briere Score As Philly Leads 4-1 After 2 Periods

The Philadelphia Flyers used goals by Erik Gustafsson and Danny Briere, respectively, to help pad their Game 6 advantage over the Pittsburgh Penguins to 4-1, as the contest has reached its second intermission. The Penguins, who down in the best-of-seven series 3-2 and could be eliminated with a Flyers victory, also tallied a goal in the second period, but they're still getting out-played at the Wells Fargo Center.

After taking it to Pittsburgh in the first 20 minutes, Philly increased its lead from two goals to three when Gustafsson scored 5 minutes, 25 seconds into the second period.

About three minutes later, the Penguins' Evgeni Malkin scored to trim the margin to 3-1 and build some momentum for Pittsburgh. However, just 34 seconds later, the Flyers' Briere pushed the lead back to three goals with a score at the 9:08 mark.

Overall, the goaltending has been the key of the contest, as Ilya Bryzgalov has faced 19 shots and saved 18 for Philadelphia, while Marc-Andre Fleury has faced 20 shots and stopped 16.

Flyers right-winger Jakub Voracek has tallied two assists in the contest.
