This will be the third time these two teams meet each other in the playoffs in the past five years, both times with the Penguins winning the series previously.
After a heated game just a short week ago, these two interstate rivals will be chomping at the bit to get this series underway. Out of all the first round series in the Eastern Conference, this easily is the most anticipated.
Pittsburgh comes in at full strength with Sidney Crosby finally playing on a consistent basis. The same can't be said for the Flyers who are still without James van Riemsdyk and of course Chris Pronger, who has been most of the season with post-concussion syndrome.
Philly won the season series 4-2, and will look to carry that momentum into the playoffs. The Penguins have been one of the league's hottest teams down the stretch.
Something has got to give.
