Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux will appear on the cover of EA Sports NHL 13 cover. Giroux topped Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne for the annual honor, which is determined by a vote of the fans.
Giroux cemented his place in local sports lore with a tough style of play combined with a scoring touch. He finished third in the NHL with 93 points this season. Giroux is the first member of the Flyers to be on the cover of the popular hockey video game since Eric Lindros in 1999. Prior to that, Rod Brind'Amour was on the cover in 1992.
Giroux was honored for winning the cover vote at the 2012 NHL Awards ceremony in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
Earlier this month, Giroux won the Wanamaker Award as Philadelphia's top athlete.
