With the NHL Draft tonight, almost everyone with a mock draft published have the Philadelphia Flyers going defensive with the 20th pick.
In his latest mock draft, Kevin Allen from USA Today have the Flyers taking defensman Derrick Pouliot from the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL.
20. Philadelphia Flyers: D Derrick Pouliot, (5-11, 190 Portland, WHL). Considered to have good offensive potential, Pouliot, left, had 11 goals and 59 points in 72 games last season.
Here is what Winterhawks' General Manager Mike Johnston had to say about Pouliot,
“As a player, Derrick has great vision, excellent puck skill, and is a guy who is very good at helping the team escape the defensive zone in a hurry. I think his vision and his puck movement, his ability to control the pace of a game, his ability to join the rush, quarterback a power play, and be a cornerstone in many parts of the game is what attracts attention.”
