Phillies Release Statement On Death Of Dallas Green's Granddaughter In Arizona Shooting

We found out late last night that ex-Phillies manager and GM Dallas Green lost his granddaughter Christina in yesterday's senseless shootings in Arizona. Phillies president David Montgomery released the following statement of support on behalf of the organization.

"The Phillies organization expresses our heartfelt condolences to Dallas and Sylvia and the entire Green family on the senseless, tragic loss of Christina's life. She was a talented young girl with a bright promising future. Her untimely death weighs heavily on our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by yesterday's horrific shooting." -- Phillies president David Montgomery.

Mike Lupica spoke with Green in the hours following the tragedy.

"It's pretty hard," Dallas Green said. "We're all hurting pretty bad."

"I can't believe this could happen to any 9-year old child," he said, "much less our own."

He said, "The worst thing to ever happen to us."
