Phillies Spring Training: Domonic Brown To Get A Lot Of At-Bats

When the Phillies let Jayson Werth walk this offseason, it was taken at least in part as a sign that uber prospect Domonic Brown was ready to step up to the big leagues and take the right field spot. Brown, who was rated as the top prospect in baseball last year, will be battling it out with Ben Francisco and John Mayberry Jr. for a starting job this spring. Charlie Manuel has already admitted though that Brown winning the job would be the "ideal" situation.

And Charlie is doing everything he can do get Dom ready.

"Charlie already told me I'm going to be getting three, four at-bats a game," Brown said. "That's a little odd in spring training, but they want me to get comfortable. I'm going to take it and make the best of it."

If he gets 3-4 at bats a game, Brown will end up playing more than any starter this spring. He was the last starter to leave the Phillies opener against Florida State.
