Phillies Extend Ruben Amaro

No surprise here. After giving Charlie Manuel a two year extension, the Phillies brass decided to reward its head man, giving Ruben Amaro a renewal for an undisclosed amount of years.

According to John Finger of CSN, sources are reporting Amaro has agreed to an extension. After pulling off the coup of the century for Cliff Lee, it’s not a shock that ownership is putting all its faith into RAJ for the next few years. With another World Series appearance or two in 2011 or 2012, he’ll be up for best GM in baseball if he’s not already.

All this clapping and back-slapping amid the worry of Chase Utley’s health quells the nervousness for a bit. At least we’ll have Charlie and Ruben at the helm for the foreseeable future.
