First pitch of the 2011 season was thrown at 1:11 pm by Harry Leroy Halladay to Michael Bourn. The pitch was a strike. It was 41 degrees. The season has begun.
Roy Halladay got Bourn to flare out to Shane Victorino in center and his control was spot on the rest of the frame. He got pitches in on hitters, threw some breaking balls in the dirt, and looked mighty fierce during the process. He struck out Angel Sanchez and Hunter Pence to end the frame, to the delight of all Phillies fans in the park and watching from home. Nothing will invigorate a crowd like a few shutdown innings from Roy to kick off the season.
We’ll get our first look at Shane, Placido, and Jimmy to lead off the bottom of the first against Brett Myers.
