Cole Hamels will look to bounce back from a poor outing against the Mets as he takes the hill against Derek Lowe and the Braves in the rubber game of their series this afternoon.
In his season debut Cole never got out of the 3rd inning giving up 6 runs. After that game Hamels sounded like he just wanted to put it behind him.
"It’s just something that happens," he said. "You try to minimize it, but at the same time, I take what I can from the game. Been there, done that. But at the same time, it is frustrating. You don’t want to have games like this, especially games to start the season."
In his career against the Braves, he's pitched well with a 9-4 record and 3.95 ERA over 19 career starts. Should he pick up a victory today, Hamels would have more wins against the Braves than against any other team in baseball.
Derek Lowe makes his third start of the season off back to back solid performances. He's 1-1 on the year, but has only allowed one run over 10 2/3 innings of work. He's 7-4 with a 3.21 ERA in 14 career starts against the Phillies.
