Phillies vs Braves: Shane Victorino Goes Deep To Put Phils Up 2-0

Shane Victorino is still hot and Cole Hamels is still sharp as the Phillies are up 2-0 after six in a very fast moving game in Atlanta.

Victorino hit a solo home run to right, his third hit off Braves’ starter Derek Lowe, to put the Phils up 2-0. Shane has accounted for pretty much all of the Phillies offense today having scored both runs.

Cole Hamels is still working on an absolute gem, despite his usual lack of run support. He’s allowed four hits and struck out eight through seven innings. He got into a bit of a jam in the 7th with runners at the corners and two out, but Braves’ rookie Freddie Freeman grounded weakly to second to end the threat.

His velocity is up, his location is great and he’s got a ton of movement on his fastball. This is the Cole Hamels we’ve come to expect. This is the Cole Hamels that has had the most wins and second best ERA among lefthanders since 2006.
