Phillies Send Cliff Lee To The Mound For Rubber Game Vs Nats

Cliff Lee will look to rebound from a rough outing last time out as the Phillies look to take the series from the Nationals in Washington DC. Lee has fared well against the Nationals in his career, having won his last two starts against them with a 2.25 ERA and 13 Ks over 16 innings.

His counterpart, Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman, has not fared so well against the Phillies. He’s lost both his career starts against them giving up 10 runs, 16 hits and eight home runs over just eight innings of work. Zimmerman knows that a matchup with Cliff Lee won’t be easy.

“‘It’s going to be tough,’ Zimmermann said. ‘He’s unbelievable. I’m going to go out there and give it my all, and we’ll see what happens.’”

The Phillies have won 10 of their past 11 series against the Nationals and are 52-22 against them since 2007.
