Back in January it was revealed that the Phillies were the "mystery team" in pursuit of ace Cliff Lee, the man who nearly helped lead them to a World Series title in 2009 and was traded that offseason. The mystery team ended up being the winner and Cliff Lee makes his return to Citizens Bank Park tonight against the Astros. Lee will face Wandy Rodriguez, who has a solid 3.05 ERA in five appearances against the Phillies.
Last night, the Phillies overcame a lackluster start to the game and erased a 4-2 ninth inning deficit when Astros closer Brandon Lyon surrendered six singles in the inning. The last hit came off the bat of John Mayberry Jr, who knocked in Ben Franscisco for the game winning run.
Roy Halladay went six solid innings giving up five hits and one run with six strikeouts. Cliff Lee will look to at least equal, if not best his co-ace tonight. The Phillies offense, which was shut out over the first six soft tossing innings from former Phil Brett Myers, will hopefully get off to a quicker start than yesterday.
