Phillies Up 8-0 Over Mets After Five Innings

The Phillies are taking it to the Mets in the rubber game of their series at Citizens Bank Park. Mets starter Jon Neise has struggled through four innings giving up six runs on hits, while striking out seven. Roy Halladay hasn't had his best stuff either, but unlike Niese he's been able to work out of jams. He faced the bases loaded with one out in third, but struck out David Wright and got Ike Davis to ground out to end the inning.

The Phils big inning came in the 4th when Ben Francisco & Raul Ibanez both got on to lead off the inning. Carlos Ruiz singled to knock in Francisco and Wilson Valdez doubled to place Ibanez and put Ruiz on third. Niese almost escaped further damage by striking out both Roy Halladay and Shane Victorino, but with two outs Placido Polanco would drive in Ruiz and Valdez with a single to shallow right. Jimmy Rollins grounded out to end the inning.

Halladay has struck out six over five innings. Placido Polanco is 2-3 with three RBI, while Shane Victorino and Wilson Valdez also have a pair of hits and an RBI each.
