Chase Utley played in his first extended spring training action and it went alright to say the least. He went 5-7 with two home runs. Typically though, Utley was humble about his performance.
↵"It went OK," Utley said. "It was good to get some timing back and some swings in there, see some live pitching so we're just going to keep it going."
↵Charlie Manuel was a little more impressed than Utley however saying, "That's good anywhere."
↵Utley also ran out an infield single and played four innings in the field. Of course, the real test is to see how Utley feels tomorrow and the next day and so on. While he has continued to take batting practice, this was his first actual game in six months. So if he can continue to play without pain for a week or so, that would be very encouraging news.
↵Should Utley feel good after some more extended spring training, the next step would be a rehab assignment, and if all goes well, a return to the majors.
