Phillies Vs Nationals: Jimmy Rollins, Domonic Brown Given Day Off

Charlie Manuel has elected to sit Jimmy Rollins and Domonic Brown for the series finale against the Washington Nationals. Jimmy is likely just getting a rest, but despite his hot bat, it looks like Charlie wants to keep Domonic Brown away from lefty starter John Lannan. Eventually Brown is going to have to get some experience vs lefty pitching, and when he's hitting well with a guy the Phillies have pounded on the mound, today would seem like it would have been a pretty good day to give him a run out... Placido Polanco will bat leadoff with John Mayberry in the two hole. Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Ben Francisco will hit 3-4-5.

Roy Oswalt will take the hill for the Phillies against Nationals starter John Lannan, who has already lost twice to the Phils this year. He was knocked around in his last appearance against the Phils on May 5th when lasted two innings and served up six runs. Lannan is 0-10 with a 6.44 ERA in 13 career starts against the Phillies.

Lil Roy has a lifetime 5-3 record with a 3.10 ERA in 15 career starts against the Nationals.

It's been a long stretch for the Phils who will play their 20th game in 20 days this afternoon. They'll get a much needed day off tomorrow before heading to Pittsburgh for a weekend series with the Pirates.
