Phillies 3, A's 1: Roy Halladay Records MLB Leading 10th Win

The Phillies didn’t give Roy Halladay much run support today, but then again, he really didn’t need it. Doc gave up just one run in a complete game effort that tied him for the MLB lead in wins with 10. Former Phillies farmhand Josh Outman (best pitcher name in the majors BTW) lasted six innings, giving up eight hits and three runs to take the loss.

The Phils got all the runs they would need in the first inning as Shane Victorino knocked home Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard hit a double play ball that scored Placido Polanco. They would add an insurance run in the 5th when Ben Francisco’s RBi scored Jimmy Rollins for the second time today. In addition to the two runs he scored, Rollins was also 4-4.

With the win, the Phillies take the series and record their MLB leading 49th win. They get a day off tomorrow before welcoming the Boston Red Sox to town on Tuesday.
