Phillies Vs Pirates: The Real Roy Halladay Looks To Prevent A Sweep

PNC Park has literally seen record crowds this weekend thanks to all the Phillies fans who traveled to Pittsburgh to catch this weekend series. However, the Pirates have played the role of spoiler and will try to try to send the Phls fans home unhappy with a sweep this afternoon.

To do that however, they will need to get past Roy Halladay, the real one, not Charlie Morton’s imitation… Halladay is undefeated in two starts against the Pirates with a 1.13 ERA. He will face James McDonald, who has allowed just four runs over his last three starts.

After a good run of games that coincided with Chase Utley’s return and a lengthy homestand, the Phillies have sputtered at the tail end of their current road trip. Since winning the first game of the Nationals series, they’ve now dropped four straight, all to sub .500 teams. However, the Phils have managed to maintain their two game lead in the NL East, as Florida has only won 4 of their past 10.

The PIrates actually can reach the .500 mark for the first time this season with a win this afternoon.
