Shane Victorino, Brad Lidge Look Good In Double-A Rehab Starts

Injured Phils Shane Victorino and Brad Lidge both made rehab appearances with double-A Reading over the weekend and both looked very good. Victorino led off for the R-Phils last night and went 3-5 with a double and an RBI.

"I can’t complain,’’ Victorino told NJ.com. "I am going to take as many at bats as I can. Taking BP (batting practice) I felt something at the top of my finger in the capsule where I had a lot of swelling, but the pain was tolerable and did not get any worse throughout the game. It was a positive step for me.’’

Shane is eligible to come off the DL tomorrow and all signs appear to point to him being ready to go. He says he hopes to pick up where he left off and avoid any more stints on the DL.

"I was obviously swinging the bat well and playing well (at the time of the injury),’’ Victorino said. "Any time you get hurt it’s frustrating. I felt like it was another big letdown for the team having to go on the DL again, but knock on wood I’ll stay injury-free the rest of the season. Unfortunately, it was a freak accident and something I hope never happens to me again. Things happen when you play the game hard.’’

Brad Lidge also looked good over the weekend as he needed just 12 pitches to get through one inning of work. He still is targeting this Friday as his return date.
