Shane Victorino Suspended Three Games For Part In Altercation

The Phillies and Giants kind of threw down in the second of their four game series over the weekend after Giants reliever Ramon Ramirez clearly beaned Shane Victorino in the 8th inning. The Hawaiian took exception to the beaning and while he didn't charge the mound, he did end up tackling a guy later on in the "brawl."

[Update by JasonB, 08/08/11 8:12 PM EDT ] Contrary to the original ESPN report, it will in fact only be Victorino who gets suspended. MLB has fined pitcher Ramon Ramirez, who clearly threw a beanball and Eli Whiteside, who acted like an idiot and unnecessarily exacerbated the situation. Even worse, he tried to tackle Placido Polanco for no reason and Polanco was also fined. For what, I have no idea.

It's pretty hard to explain how Victorino is the one who gets beaned and yet he's the only guy suspended. It's a joke really. He's appealing the suspension.
