Phillies Rumors: Kerry Wood Or Brad Lidge For The Phils Bullpen?

With the Phillies still somewhat wary about the health of Jose Contreras, they are reportedly in the market for another bullpen arm. Among the reported candidates are former Phil Brad Lidge and former Cub Kerry Wood. First, Ken Rosenthal says that the Phils are one of a couple teams in on Lidge.

From the "could be something, could be nothing" department, FOX's Ken Rosenthal tweets that the Phillies are still talking to Brad Lidge about a possible return while Lidge's hometown team, the Rockies, doesn't appear to be in on the free agent. Rosenthal also tweets that the Angels are on the periphery with Lidge, with several other teams also in the mix.

Jerry Cransick from ESPN is reporting that the Philadelphia Phillies are interested in Kerry Wood, but only based on the health of Jose Conttreras. It had looked like Wood was a lock to re sign with the Chicago Cubs, but then it came out that he was actually talking with several other teams, and the Phillies are one of them.

CSN Philly's Jim Salisbury says that Wood is seeking a one year, $4 million deal, which is apparently why he has not gotten a deal done with the Cubs.
