Cliff Lee Injury Update: Phillies' Lefty Could Miss More Starts

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Cliff Lee is eligible to come off the 15-day disable list on May 4, but Friday's news that Lee has Grade 1 left external oblique strain could force him to miss more time. Lee has been on the DL since April 21 with a left oblique strain.

The news was broke by Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., who admitted that's what the organization thought the issue was all along.

"We’d only like to have him miss a couple of starts but if he has to miss 3-4 starts then that is what it will be," Amaro said. "Hopefully it will be shorter than that."

in the same press conference, Amaro Jr. said second basemen Chase Utley was progressing well, but had no update on first basemen Ryan Howard.
