Matt Garza gave up only one hit through seven innings, striking out ten on the way to giving the Cubs their second victory of this four game series. Jimmy Rollins managed a single in the first, and combined with an infield single from Hunter Pence in the ninth that was all the offense Philadelphia could muster. Their only run was a gift from Cubs closer Carlos Marmol when he walked two, gave up the single to Pence, and then walked in a run before getting Shane Victorino on a ground out to end the game.
Starlin Castro, Jeff Baker, Ian Stewart and Joe Mather produced for the Cubs, with Castro picking up two RBI, one in the third and one in the eigth, and Mather's solo home run in the fourth only his second home run in four seasons.
The Phillies have one more game against the Cubs, Monday at 7:05pm, and they'll look to Vance Worley to take the mound and help them even out the series.
