The Philadelphia Phillies got some pinch hitter drama on Wednesday night. Carlos Ruiz broke an eighth inning tie with a solo shot off the bench, and Hector Luna came in to bat in the ninth and smacked a grand slam to bury the Chicago Cubs.
On the mound for Philadelphia is last season's National League Cy Young runner-up Roy Halladay. It's been a month since Halladay last had a win, April 16 to be exact. Halladay lost in his start, giving up the winning run on a seventh inning sacrifice fly against the Padres on Sunday.
Chicago will go with Chris Volstad, who is 0-5 on the season with a 6.92 ERA. Volstad has allowed 15 earned runs in his last three starts.
The game, at Wrigley Field in Chicago, starts at 8:05 p.m. Eastern. Fans can watch it on PHL 17 in Philadelphia.
