Injured Philadelphia Phillies second baseman, Chase Utley, seems to be progressing nicely from his knee injury. Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer has the scoop:
So take this as a positive: Utley took ground balls Wednesday for the first time in nearly a month. Then he woke up Thursday and decided he felt so good he wanted to run. And once batting practice started later in the afternoon, he was at second, taking more grounders.
The timetable of his return is still up in the air.
The 33-year-old second baseman is coming off the worst season of his career. In 103 games last year, he he just .259 – 31 points below his career average – hit 11 home runs and stole 14 bases.
