Jose Contreras Placed On 15-Day Disabled List; Michael Schwimer Recalled

According to the official Twitter of the Philadelphia Phillies, Jose Contreras has been placed on the 15-day disabled list. Michael Schwimer has been recalled from Lehigh Valley to replace Contreras.

The 40-year-old Contreras has pitched 12.1 innings out of the Phillies bullpen in 2012, with an ERA of 5.27. Despite the high ERA, he's pitched fairly well. His FIP of 2.66 suggests that he's been a bit unlucky. He's drawing more swings and misses than he has in previous years and is still throwing his fastball in the low 90s.

Schwimer has 20.1 major leagues on his resume, but hasn't exactly lit it up, with an ERA of 6.10 during his brief major league stints. However; like Contreras, his FIP suggests he's pitched better than his ERA. He generates a decent amount of swings and misses, and has posted good numbers throughout the minors.
