The Philadelphia Phillies infield injuries woes are not over but they got some good news from extended spring training on Monday: Chase Utley was mashing the ball (via CSN Philly).
During today's extended spring training game against the Yankees, Utley went 3-4 at the plate with a home run and a double. Utley has missed 55 games this season due to a knee injury and missed 46 games at the beginning last season with a similar knee injury. Utley is not yet working in the field as he works his way into more at-bats during extended spring games.
Last season after returning from injury, Utley hit .259 with 11 homers, 44 RBI and 39 walks. The 33-year-old said he feels ready to make the next move in his return this season.
