The Philadelphia Phillies won the first series out of the All-Star break against the Colorado Rockies, and are looking to carry that momentum into the City of Angels when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.
After Cole Hamels shut down the Rockies, it will be Joe Blanton's turn to take the ball. The hulking righty has been subpar this year, posting a 7-8 record and a 4.98 ERA. Blanton took a loss in his last outing, giving up five runs in 6.1 innings against the Atlanta Braves.
The Dodgers are sitting just 1.5 games out of first place, and are ready to call on Nate Eovaldi. The 22-year-old has had a tough go of it this campaign, sporting a 1-5 mark with an ERA of 4.21. However, that one win came in his last appearance when he pitched six innings and yielded just one run opposing the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Phillies will have to get things turned around quickly if they hope to make a run at the postseason. They had a good start in Colorado, but will need to keep the ball rolling.
