The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly interested in Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins (via CBS Sports). The Dodgers have previously been reported to have interest in Phils pitcher Cole Hamels and outfielder Shane Victorino. Why Rollins?
The Dodgers have had trouble at the shortstop position all year, plagued by injuries and poor hitting. Rollins is hitting .261 for the season but over .300 since late May. On the season Rollins has eight home runs, 33 RBI and 29 walks in 87 games.
The Dodgers will be able to get a good look at Rollins with the teams beginning a three-game set on Monday evening in Los Angeles. One hitch that might allow Philadelphia to keep Rollins is the three-year, $33 million deal he signed last December.
