MLB Trade Rumors: Phillies, Giants Talking Hunter Pence -- Report

The Philadelphia Phillies have decisions to make before Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline, and though most trade rumors involve ace Cliff Lee the likely chip to be shipped out of Philly could be outfielder Hunter Pence. According to a report by CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, the Phillies and San Francisco Giants could make a deal involving Pence happen soon.

While Giants people have denied a report from Sunday that there is a deal "in place" for Pence, and that appears to be the case, the Giants are in fact talking to the Phillies about Pence.

Money is one of the reasons Pence is finding himself on the trading block, says Heyman, even though the Giants have said they don't want to spend.

The Phillies have led Pence to believe he won't be traded, but it appears they are at least willing to listen. Pence is batting .268 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI this year and will make $13million to $15 million in arbitration next year.
