Ryan Howard Return: Slugger Activated From DL, Hector Luna Optioned To Triple-A

Ryan Howard has officially been activated from the disabled list and will make his season debut in Friday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves. The Philadelphia Phillies optioned infielder Hector Luna to Triple-A Lehigh Valley in order to make room for the slugger.

Howard has missed the entire 2012 season to date after rupturing his Achilles tendon last year. He recently completed a rehab assignment in the minor leagues, where he dominated with 10 hits in 20 at-bats. He had one home run, 10 RBI and five walks in seven games.

Luna is batting .246 with two homes runs and 10 RBI over 61 appearances with the Phillies this season.The 32-year old has also spent 30 games in Triple-A, where he is hitting .269 with one home run and 12 RBI.
