Joe Blanton Trade: Phillies Trade Blanton To LA Dodgers For Player To Be Named Later Or Cash

The Philadelphia Phillies have sent right-handed pitcher Joe Blanton to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later or cash considerations, according to a report. The Dodgers claimed Blanton off of waivers which triggered the trade.

Blanton, 31, was just 8-9 this season for the Phillies with an ERA of 4.59. His ERA went down down a little in the month of July despite picking up three losses. Blanton will see a familiar face in Shane Victorino when he gets to Los Angeles. The Phillies sent Victorino to the Dodgers on Tuesday. Both players can become free agents after the season.

The Phillies called up right-hander B.J. Rosenberg from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Blanton's roster spot. Kyle Kendrick will start on Friday night in place of Blanton.
