The Phillies opened their series against the Braves on Friday night with an 8-5 extra-innings win. Philadelphia rallied in the top of the ninth to even things up and then followed that up with a three-run 10th to clinch the win. Erik Kratz took one of the best closers in the game, the hard-throwing Craig Kimbrel, deep to left lead off the 9th and tie things at 5-5. One inning later, John Mayberry also went to left for the three-run game-winning homer.

Roy Halladay was chased in the fifth inning after giving up two two-run homers that covered more than 800 total feet. Martin Prado and Freddie Freeman did the damage, forcing Charlie Manuel to make the call for Jeremy Horst. Halladay simply did not have it, walking four and giving up four runs on seven hits in the 4.2 innings pitched.

In addition to Kratz and Mayberry, slugger Ryan Howard also had a big night at the dish. Howard opened the scoring with a solo bomb in the second and finished the night two for four with a walk, 3 RBIs, and two runs scored.

Cliff Lee now takes the hill on Saturday to try and play spoiler and clinch the series for the Phils. He'll be opposed by Tim Hudson.
