The Phillies will try to clinch their series against the Reds Tuesday night with Kyle Kendrick on the hill.
Cincinnati holds the second-best record in baseball, but the Phils now lead the season series against the Reds after an impressive performance by Tyler Cloyd in the opener on Labor Day. Cloyd gave up only four hits and struck out nine in seven innings, shutting down one of the NL's most potent lineups.
Kendrick now takes the ball Tuesday night looking for his fifth straight win. The 28-year-old righty had a great month of August and has allowed only four runs in his last four starts. He'll be opposed by Mat Latos, who's 11-4 with a 3.79 ERA. The Reds are firmly in control of the NL Central with an 8.5-game lead over the Cardinals, but they're battling the Nationals for the best record in the league.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET and the Phils will look to play spoiler by taking the series.
