After beating the Colorado Rockies 3-2 in the first game of their pair today, the Phillies would sweep the doubleheader with a 7-4 victory in the nightcap. Tyler Cloyd started tonight's game, but he'd make it through only four innings before turning things over to the bullpen. The bullpen was excellent though, allowing only one hit in the final five frames.
The Phillies would get the scoring underway in the bottom of the second, as Michael Martinez singled home Ty Wigginton to put the Phillies up by one. Colorado would jump out to a lead in the top of the next inning though, scoring four in the top of the third.
Philly would start to climb back into this one in the fifth, as Ryan Howard singled home a pair to close the Phils to within one. They'd take the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a Ty Wigginton homerun and a Kevin Frandsen RBI single. RBI singles by Carlos Ruiz and Michael Martinez in the bottom of the seventh would put the Phillies up 7-4, and that would end the scoring Jonathan Papelbon would come in to close the game out in the ninth.
The Phillies will host the Marlins tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. ET, with Wade LeBlanc scheduled to go for Miami and Kyle Kendrick slated to start for the Phillies.
