Union vs. Red Bulls preview, game time, TV info and more

The Philadelphia Union are eliminated from playoff contention, but they can still play spoiler against the New York Red Bulls.

Rob Christy-US PRESSWIRE

The Philadelphia Union will wrap up their disappointing season Saturday when they host the New York Red Bulls. The Union (10-17-6) have been tough to beat at home, going 6-3-1 in their last 10 matches in Philadelphia.

Still, the Red Bulls have a lot to play for. A New York win in conjunction with a Chicago loss would promote the Red Bulls from the fourth to the third seed in the playoffs. That third spot would mean avoiding the Knockout Round of the MLS playoffs and advancing directly to the semifinals.

In addition, Philadelphia has not beaten New York since April 9, 2011. During that span, the Red Bulls have defeated the Union three times, including twice this season.

Philadelphia is coming off consecutive losses to Houston and Kansas City. New York is also slumping. The Red Bulls have won just once in their last five matches.
