2012 MLS Standings: Despite win Union out of tight playoff race

The Philadelphia Union beat the New England Revolution over the weekend. The victory did not help the Union's playoff chances as they've already been eliminated.

The Philadelphia Union were able to earn a 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday. The victory did nothing for either teams playoff chances, as the Union (10-15-6, 36 points) and Revolution (7-17-8, 29 points) have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Currently, the Eastern Conference standings feature the Sporting Kansas City (17-7-8, 59 points) in first place. Kansas City is just three points ahead of the Chicago Fire (17-10-5, 56 points), who have just two games remaining in the regular season.

Behind that pair is D.C. United (16-10-6, 54 points), New York Red Bulls (15-9-8, 53 points) and Houston Dynamo (13-8-11, 50 points), respectively. Right behind the Dynamo are the Columbus Crew (14-11-7, 49 points), who have two games remaining. Houston has three games left on its schedule helping its playoff chances.
