Chelsea FC To Play In Philadelphia This Summer

Chelsea FC has announced a summer tour of the United States, which includes a stop right here in Philadelphia. PPL Park is set to host the 2012 MLS All Star game, which always involves a major European club, so it's certainly possible that Chelsea takes part in that game. They'll also reportedly make stops in New York (Yankee Stadium), DC and Seattle.

If they do, in fact, play the Union, that would mark the third likely international friendly for Philadelphia as Scott Kessler points out.

The Philadelphia Union have been linked to a friendly with Newcastle United for a summer friendly, and reports out of Costa Rica have said that the team will also host Deportivo Saprissa in the coming months, making Chelsea a possible third friendly this year. Chelsea would be the third, or fourth depending on whether or not a Newcastle friendly is played, English team to play a friendly against the Union.
