U.S. Open Cup 2012: Union Vs Sporting KC Game Time, Streaming Info & More

The Philadelphia Union host Sporting Kansas City at PPL Park on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the 2012 U.S. Open Cup.

The two teams met on June 23 in a Major League Soccer match, with the Union controlling play en route to a 4-0 victory which has sparked the team's 4-1-0 start under interim coach John Hackworth.

Wednesday night the two teams meet for different stakes, with a chance to play in the 2012 U.S. Open Cup Finals on the line. Despite looking far from their early season form in MLS play, Sporting KC has has been a dominant side in Open Cup play with eight goals scored and just two conceded. The Union, already playing well in Open Cup play, have responded very favorably to interim coach Hackworth and are enjoying a better run of form than almost any team in MLS.

Kansas City is making their third appearance in the Open Cup semifinals while it is the first appearance for the Union. Sporting KC won the Open Cup in 2004. The winner of Wednesday's match will advance to the final to play the winner of Chivas USA and the Seattle Sounders.

The winner of the 2012 U.S. Open Cup receives not only the tournament trophy, but also $100,000 prize and an a berth into the 2013-2014 CONCACAF Champions League group stage.
