2012 MLS All-Star Game Preview: MLS Looks To Beat Chelsea Once Again

The MLS All-Stars will meet European champions Chelsea on July 25 at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. in the 2012 MLS All-Star Game.

The Philadelphia Union will be represented by two players on the All-Stars roster: defender Carlos Valdes and midfielder Michael Farfan. Valdes was named to the All-Star side as one of MLS Commissioner Don Garber's two picks. MLS All-Star coach Ben Olsen added Farfan after Chelsea asked that the clubs get to make more substitutions.

The All-Stars met Chelsea in 2006 at the Chicago Fire's home venue, Toyota Park. Dwayne De Rosario scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for MLS. Overall, MLS holds a 6-2-1 advantage over international opponents in the All-Star Game and have outscored their competition, 16-14.

De Rosario is in the lineup again for MLS. LA Galaxy captain Landon Donovan has been selected to his MLS record 12th All-Star team. For the complete MLS roster, click here.

Chelsea's star-studded roster boasts one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Petr Cech. Newcomer midfielders Eden Hazard and Marko Marin have already impressed during the EPL side's U.S. preseason tour, as has forward Romelu Lukaku. For the complete Chelsea roster, click here.
