After Vince Young's epic game game winning drive against the Giants it was inevitable, despite his overall pretty poor showing, that some reporters would ask Andy Reid whether he was still committed to Michael Vick as his starting QB when Vick returns from injury. The coach quickly brushed off the questions and made it clear that Vick was still his #1, but said that he was confident that Young could get the job done.

"Well, I felt that way going in. I don't have a long history with Vince, and I felt confident that he would be able to be successful, knock a little of the rust off, get kind of caught up with the game speed and then be okay, and then I also have confidence in [QB] Mike Kafka. So that allows us to do that, although that's what we normally do anyway. We're not going to put a guy out there if he can't play."

On the injury front he said that Vick was improving but is still sore and if there were a game today, he wouldn't be ready to go. However, the coach says they'll keep monitoring him with an eye toward him hopefully practicing on Monday.

Reid was also asked if they did anything different this week that might explain the difference in their fourth quarter performance this week as opposed to the rest of the year?

"Well listen, they know. These are smart guys, so they know that we've struggled in the fourth quarter. There's not a lot you have to say. It's just important that you maintain your energy through it, and that you don't put so much emphasis on it that you start doing things crazy as far as penalties and turnovers, and so on, and that the coaches, they give the players the calls and they know they can execute."

DeSean Jackson picked up a foot injury when a Giants players stepped on him at some point during the touchdown to Riley Cooper. He was seen leaving the stadium in a boot, but Reid said that it's nothing serious.

"I don't think so. It's sore today, but it's not a Lisfranc or one of those things. It got stepped on. It's tender. He came in early this morning and got treatment, so we'll see how he does."

The Eagles brought their weekly horror show to New York, but for one of the few times this season they turned the tables and left the GIants left angry and lacking for answers. Head coach Tom Coughlin was as pointed in his criticism of the team as SBNation New York has ever heard.
↵
"We have no first downs to show, we have no yardage to show, we have no rushing yardage with 29 yards, which is about as pathetic as it can get."
↵
Coughlin also seemed upset that his team didn't take the Eagles seriously enough.
↵
"As I just said to each one of the players, first start off with yourself and look at yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself. Because my question for them was ‘why?' What does it take to understand what the Eagles were going to be like coming here? You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that the team is 3-6 with their backs to the wall, they are going to play their butts off. To get to where we wanted to go, we had to play better and harder and we didn't."
↵
Some people referred to this as a "trap" game for the Giants, which I thought was just crazy. A prime time game against your biggest rival a trap game? If the Giants can't get up for this game, what can they get up for?

For one night, the Philadelphia Eagles' fourth-quarter struggles abated. And all it took was Vince Young filling in for Michael Vick and the much-maligned Eagles defense coming through against comeback king Eli Manning.

Young led the game-winning touchdown drive with less than three minutes to go, Jason Babin forced a Manning fumble that scuttled the Giants' attempt to send the game to overtime, and LeSean McCoy salted it all away with a 60-yard run to kill the clock.

Young threw for 258 yards and one touchdown pass, and leaned on Riley Cooper, who made his first catch of the season in a five-catch, 75-yard, one-touchdown performance, to do it. McCoy tallied 113 rushing yards on the night.

Manning threw for 264 yards and a touchdown in the loss, and had thrown a game-tying touchdown pass to Victor Cruz earlier in the fourth quarter. But his fumble was his second turnover of the night, and ended up being fatal to the Giants' chances.

The victory moves Philadelphia to 4-6 on the year, and keeps faint playoff hopes alive. The Giants fell to 6-4 with the loss, and are tied for the NFC East lead with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles had all but shut down Eli Manning and the New York Giants in their Sunday night clash, but the Giants quarterback doesn't need much to make magic happen.

Manning led New York on its first touchdown drive of the night early in the fourth quarter, finding Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz for a bomb and a touchdown pass, respectively, and tying the game up with less than a quarter of play to go.

Manning has thrown for just 184 yards on the night, and has only completed 14 passes, but he's pretty clearly the Giants' best chance of pulling this game out and keeping first place in the NFC East. The Eagles' defense has done a number on New York's running game, limiting Brandon Jacobs, Da'Rel Scott, and D.J. Ware to 29 yards on 17 carries.

The Eagles and Giants were locked in a pretty ugly defensive battle for the majority of the first half, but a big play from DeSean Jackson and some revenge from Steve Smith have opened things up and given Philadelphia a 10-0 lead at halftime.

Giants fans no doubt felt like they had dejavu when punter Steve Weatherford hit a low line drive kick straight to DeSean Jackson who returned the punt 51 yards to the Giants 14 yard line. Later replays actually looked as if Jackson was not out of bounds where he was called, but the point was made moot when Vince Young hit former Giant Steve Smith for a 14 yard TD on the next play.

Smith was lustily booed by Giants fans at the start of the game. He became a major public enemy in New York when he signed with the Eagles in the offseason to the shock of Giants fans and coaches who thought he would return. Smith has struggled through a mostly inactive and unproductive season to this point, so it had to be a big moment to finally get his first TD as an Eagle against the Giants. Smith was one of the goats of the first meeting between these two when he let a Michael Vick pass in the red zone go right off his hands and into those of Aaron Ross.

The Giants were able to tack on a field goal before the end of the half to make the score 10-3. The craziest hit of the game came right before that FG when Cullen Jenkins did the following to Giants RB D.J. Ware...

DeSean Jackson is well-known for his flamboyance on the football field. But his emotional play has rarely backfired on the dynamic Cal product and his Eagles as badly as it did in the second quarter of Sunday night's game against the Giants.

Jackson incurred a personal foul for taunting, cancelling out a penalty on the Giants for illegal contact, and wiped out a long reception from Vince Young, which would have served as an escape from the shadow of their own goalposts and been Philly's longest play of the night.

On the bright side, Jackson did do his taunting in amusing fashion, flipping the ball at a Giants assistant coach in his typically insouciant manner and brushing himself off as he backpedaled his way back into the field of play.

If Jackson does anything particularly well, it is play the showman.

The Philadelphia Eagles are already without Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin in their critical Sunday night match-up with the New York Giants. Briefly, it appeared that they would be without DeSean Jackson for the rest of the night, too.

Jackson made a 32-yard catch to set the Eagles up in Giants territory, but came down hard and left the field. NBC's Michele Tafoya reported that Jackson had been taken to the locker room for further examination of his right knee, and that his return was questionable.

But Jackson returned midway through the second quarter, with Al Michaels telling the NBC audience that he had been evaluated for a concussion and, obviously, cleared. And Jackson immediately made a massive catch to get Philly out from the shadow of its own goalposts, then promptly nullified it with a penalty for taunting.

The Eagles are already down one starting WR with Jeremy Maclin out and at least for the moment it appears as though they've lost the other. Jackson has been taken to the locker room for "further evaluation" on his right knee. Jackson was hurt after making a nice first down catch on a low throw from Vince Young. Jackson dove the for the ball and appeared to have his knee bounce off the turf.

He immediately took off his helmet and signaled for the trainers. They looked at his knee for a bit on the sidelines before deciding to take him into the locker room. The good news is that he was jogging on his way to the locker room and didn't have a noticeable limp. Jackson had two catches for 39 yards in the first two quarters.

His absence leaves the Eagles WR corps very thin. Jason Avant, Steve Smith & Riley Cooper are currently all they've got. Chad Hall can also line up in the slot if needed, but obviously the options are very limited.

[Update by JasonB, 11/20/11 9:27 PM EST ] DeSean Jackson is back in the game. He did not miss a series.
