The La Salle Explorers defeated the Rhode Island Rams by a final score of 80 to 66. The win improves La Salle's record to 14-6 overall and and 3-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Against the 3-16 Rams, this is a game the Explorers should have won, especially at home. The game was tied 35-35 at halftime, but the Explorers turned it on in the second half and cruised to an easy 14 point victory. La Salle was able to dominate the Rams in virtually every category today except rebounding. The Rams out-rebounded the Explorers 37 to 16, including 15 offensive rebounds.

Every La Salle starter scored in double figures, led by Tyreek Duren with 21.

The Explorers next game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 25 against the George Washington Colonials in Tom Gola Arena. The Colonials are 7-11 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.

La Salle looks to bounce back into the win column on Saturday afternoon against Rhode Island.

The La Salle Explorers look to bounce back from two straight losses when they host the struggling Rhode Island Rams on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.

La Salle (13-6, 2-2) began Atlantic 10 Conference play with two straight wins but have dropped consecutive road decisions since. The Explorers cut a double-digit deficit to one with 3:25 remaining at Temple on Wednesday night, but Temple made enough plays down the stretch to hand La Salle a 76-70 defeat. Tyreek Duren scored 18 points but they were not enough to avoid the Explorers' sixth straight loss to Temple.

Rhode Island (3-16) has lost four straight to begin conference play, but the last three losses have all been by single digits, including a 66-64 affair at Fordham on Wednesday. Since leading scorer Jamal Wilson was suspended indefinitely in late December, the Rams have been paced by Billy Baron, who pours in 14.6 points per game.
